Beginning Engraving gets you started with modern engraving tools and a microscope.  Learn new techniques and improve the quality of your work!  Skills apply to working with gold, silver or steel.

Tira introduces students to hand engraving with EnSet Hand Engraving systems and Leica microscopes.  In class, you learn to shape and sharpen many gravers including:

  • a 90 degree graver,
  • a 110 degree graver,
  • a flat,
  • a round and
  • an onglette.

In addition to gravers, you will make stippling and background texture tools.  Tira also goes over transfer techniques, tips on holding/blocking your work, the basics of cutting scrolls, and easy border patterns.

Tira tailors projects for jewelers and hand engravers to student’s needs & abilities.

Beginning Engraving comes with 2 mentoring credits for follow-up with the instructor.  Live, on-line sessions help you retain skills and refine techniques.
